Village PlanOckley Parish Plan - Building the future of your village.Village Plans, or to give it's correct title, Parish Plans, are part of a Government sponsored initiative to help plan the communities future and give the local people control over the development of their own Village. In 2005, a steering group was formed with the support of the Parish Council, Surrey Community Action, Mole Valley District Council and Surrey County Council, to create a plan for the Parish of Ockley. The key to this group is that residents are actually given a say in the subjects that they feel important. Last summer, a small questionnaire was issued to identify the key areas of concern. This data, along with the views of the group, and other bodies, have helped create this comprehensive questionnaire. The results from this document, which has been delivered to every household in Ockley, will be made available to Ockley residents in the Spring. It will then form the basis of the Parish Plan to be finalized in the Summer. Which will again be made available. You can download a copy of the Parish Plan Questionnaire here in PDF format, (size 919Kb). Please note, this is a sample copy and can NOT be used in lieu of the official version. Below, are he results form the initial questionnaire from last year. There were 107 responses – a 33% response rate and as shown below, all areas of the village and age ranges were represented.
On our questions, the key responses are shown below as a percentage of the total: What Should we STOP
What Should we START
What Should we CONTINUE
There were many other useful comments and many ideas to start or restart - cycle lanes, more footpaths, welcome and Information signs, newspaper, neighborhood watch, making local produce available, school buses from Forest Green/Walliswood/Okewood Hill, cafe, Fish & Chip van, more secondary school choice, more parking at the station, more shops, warning signs for children waiting for buses, mirrors at parking by shop, a map of houses. And several respondents said - keep doing all the things we do today. We will use these inputs to create the more detailed questionnaire, which we aim to send to you in September. We will also see if any of the ideas above, can be achieved sooner rather than later. Many thanks to everyone who contributed. [Editor] As you can see, the results from these questionnaires are taken seriously and can help make a difference in your village. Please take the time to fill out Phase 2 when it arrives. If you don't, you won't have any right to complain about anything! |
